Does anyone know if there is a masterlist of fen, in particular HP authors/artists, who are setting up various other journals... and most importantly, what their new journal names are?

If I order the adult edition covers in paperback from Canada, these are the same as what are sold in England correct? They're not the American-ized versions?

| Interesting! |
[04 Apr 2007|04:25pm] |
I just got the most interesting bit of feedback for a story I wrote *years* ago. The reader first apologized for sending me an email, because they couldn't find anyplace else to leave feedback.
It's curious how fandom has changed (in conjuction with web technology of course) where someone would literally be afraid they were "stalking [me]" by sending me an email. Back in the day, that's the only way it was done! And now we're all so used to LJ's comment or automated archive features. Remember when there were no automated archives at all?
I just thought I'd share this because I found it so curious... and it made me feel kinda old (though I'm not, strictly year wise... I started young I suppose!). Did anyone else used to get their fic off Usenet?! Everything is so much more convienent now!

Poll (ghetto style since I can't do the real LJ kind):
Severus Snape:
Choose one:
Eternally unromantic with no hope for change
Could, for a special occasion, make traditionally romantic gestures/gifts/plans
If you chose the latter, under which circumstances would it be believable that Snape would do something romantic and how would you make it believable to the reader while stay true to his "mean" character?
I think a lot of us would like to believe that, upon meeting the right person and falling in love, Snape would blossom into a dashing, romantic and generous man... but somehow I don't see this happening very easily (if at all???) It's difficult to figure out, because we've never seen Snape in any sort of this situation in canon... there have been very subtle hints that he was in love, or that he was loved, but we have no way to know how he acted then.

| Fic Annc. |
[07 Aug 2006|03:41am] |
The masterlist for sshg_exchange was released!
My fic is here.
Title: Lowering the Defences Rating: PG-13 (for the moment) Warning(s): None Genre/Category: Romance/Drama/Angst Summary: Snape has been captured by the Ministry and Hermione volunteers to be his attorney. Will Snape let her help clear his name?
( My thoughts on my fic )
Now if you'll excuse me, I have many, many stories to catch up on, and much, much feedback to leave.

| Question: |
[20 Mar 2006|12:23am] |
So how many words/pages (in a word processor) does a novel make?
I've seen some fan fiction listed as a novel or novella, but some of them seem rather short to me.
I've seen some that are 20,000 words and declared as novels... and while 20,000 is certainly nothing to sniff at, I don't consider it "novel" length. It might only take me an hour or two to read it, depending on how careful I'm being, whereas a novel I'd buy in the bookstore might take me at least 8 hours of solid, solid nonstop reading.
Thoughts?

| Chlark |

I want to write some post-episode Chlark, but I can't think of anything.
My one sort of WIP about Chloe's mom is jossed now. I read it over tonight, wondering if I could salvage it, but I don't think I can. I mean... it would be AU and there's nothing wrong with that but now I'm not sure if it's that good to begin with.
Give me something to write!! *g*

| HP Fic Musings |
[14 Aug 2005|04:36pm] |
I was finishing up the 10th chapter for TSK (!) finally, and things snowballed into a series of thoughts about HP fic.
Obviously a lot of people's stories are AU now, and while that's all quite fine, it made me think if people will not only continue to finish their now-AU WIPs, but if we will also continue to write stories that only follow canon up to OotP.
Book 6 has had an impact that the other 5 couldn't have. We're facing ( HBP spoilers )
I know that I, personally, feel like there's a definite loss of innocence to future HP fics in that we have to think very carefully about how we want to interpret canon now, and that I have to decide if I'm going to embrace the changes that Book 6 brought and Book 7 may bring, if not for the 'new' characterization, but the entirely different format Harry's 7th year may follow.
I almost wrote a 4400 fic, but then after the first sentence I felt silly and woefully uninspired. Maybe one day.

I have several new plot bunnies running around because of HBP and I have several that are utterly destroyed.
What to do, what to do. Hmm.
I also would make a GIP with my new HBP icon... I think some would consider it spoilery though, it has a quote. Are people using their quote icons yet? When are we 'allowed' to use them safely?

| With Love |
[27 Jun 2005|08:30pm] |
Why do fan fic authors write things like, "I didn't bother to look up x, so it may be wrong" or "Didn't proofread, so forgive mistakes."
I mean, is that supposed to be an incentive for me to read it? If someone doesn't care enough to do those things, and then actually admit it? I'm certainly not going to care enough to read it.
Of course, we've all posted things unbeta-ed before, but I wouldn't actually say so! LOL

I never realized how many of my favorite authors are Australian.
Man.
That'll teach me to fall in love with WIPs, too
:(
Hopefully as a fandom we can all figure it out and bring things back to life.
